Privacy Policy — ML Robocopy Standard Edition
Mobile Logic, LLC · Version 2.0.0 and later · Effective October 2026
We receive nothing
ML Robocopy Standard Edition copies your files and settings from one Windows computer to another. It runs entirely on your own equipment.
Mobile Logic, LLC never receives your data. The Software contains no networking code at all — no telemetry, analytics, licence check, update check or crash reporting. It cannot send anything anywhere. We therefore have nothing to sell, share, or disclose. You can verify this by running it behind a network monitor.
The only program it launches is robocopy.exe, a component of Microsoft Windows, running locally against the folders you chose.
What it reads on your computer
Only what you tick: your files, and the application settings that migrations normally miss — Outlook data and signatures, Office settings and dictionaries, browser profiles, fonts, printers, taskbar and desktop setup, and settings for apps such as Teams, Zoom and VS Code. It also reads a few registry values to write the setup report below. The application itself never writes to the registry. The MSI installer records one entry so Windows can list and uninstall the app, as every Windows installer does; the portable version writes nothing at all.
Selecting a browser copies that browser's whole profile, including its history, cookies and its own saved-password store. These are copied as opaque files — the Software never opens, decrypts or inspects them, and contains no code that could.
Never copied: Windows Credential Manager and saved Wi-Fi passwords. These are listed for you so you know what to re-enter, but are left on the old machine.
Administrator rights are required to read locked files and other user profiles. The Software changes no system or security setting and installs no service, driver or scheduled task.
What it writes, and where
Everything lands in the destination folder you chose. Nothing goes anywhere else.
The copy, with original timestamps preserved.
A job log (copy-log-*.txt) — contains personal data: the Windows account that ran the job, the computer name, and every file path copied or skipped. Hash-chained so it is tamper-evident.
A setup report (SETUP-NOTES.txt) — contains personal data: computer name, signed-in user, printers, mapped drives, and the names (not passwords) of known Wi-Fi networks.
A manifest so an interrupted job can resume, and temporary files that are removed at the end.
Local event-tracing records under provider MobileLogic-MLRobocopy-Standard, including the operator and computer name. These go nowhere unless an administrator on that machine is actively running a trace.
Anyone with access to your destination can read all of the above. Choose an encrypted destination, and delete the staging copy once the new computer is working.
If you contact us
We receive whatever you put in your message, use it only to answer you, and keep it no longer than three years. Please redact log files before sending them — see above for what they contain.
For organisations
Your organisation is the data controller. Mobile Logic is neither controller nor processor, because no data reaches us — no DPA is required and no data transfer occurs. Administrators can centrally require an encrypted destination, block USB destinations, leave saved passwords behind, set a retention period, and collect logs to a central folder. These restrictions are shown to the technician before each job.
Other
We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we change this policy we will update the version and date above. Each release is published with its SHA-256 hash so you can verify what you installed.
